LR1200E4 · 905 nm Laser Rangefinder Module

LR1200E4 Arduino library and example sketch

The Arduino library in erdi-lrf-drivers decodes the LR1200E4 frame (8 B / 2 B at 115200 baud) and returns the distance in m. Use a hardware serial port; SoftwareSerial is not reliable at this rate.

Wiring

LR1200E4 TX → Arduino RX1, RX → TX1, GND → GND, supply 3.3–5 V. Interface level: UART-TTL; check the level before connecting a 5 V board.

Example sketch

#include <ErdiLRF.h>
ERDI_LR1200E4 lrf(Serial1);   // LR1200E4

void setup() {
  Serial.begin(115200);
  Serial1.begin(115200);
  lrf.begin();
}

void loop() {
  if (lrf.readSingle()) {
    Serial.println(lrf.distanceMeters());
  }
  delay(100);
}

FAQ

What is the maximum range of the LR1200E4?

The published range is 4–1,200 m (Standard range; actual reach depends on target and environment.). A range figure is only comparable together with the target and conditions it was measured on, so the condition is listed next to the value.

Which interface does the LR1200E4 use?

The published communication interface is UART-TTL @ 115200 bps.

What laser wavelength does the LR1200E4 use?

The published wavelength is 905 ± 5 nm; laser safety entry: Class 1.

How much does the LR1200E4 cost?

The published single-unit price of the LR1200E4 is $90, falling to $35 per unit at the largest published quantity band. Prices include shipping and are ordered directly from erdilrf.com.
