LRF50H · 905 nm LiDAR Distance Sensor

LRF50H ROS 2 driver: range node, topics, launch files

The ROS 2 package reads the LRF50H over a serial port at 460800 baud and publishes sensor_msgs/msg/Range in metres. Install from the driver repository, pass the port and model name, and the topic appears in RViz.

Install and run

cd ~/ros2_ws/src\ngit clone https://github.com/ErdiTech/erdi-lrf-drivers\ncd .. && colcon build --packages-select erdi_lrf_ros2\nsource install/setup.bash\nros2 run erdi_lrf_ros2 range_node --ros-args -p port:=/dev/ttyUSB0 -p baud:=460800 -p model:=LRF50H

FAQ

What is the maximum range of the LRF50H?

The published range is 0.05–50 m (90% reflectivity); 0.05–15 m (10% reflectivity) (The two source values remain bound to their stated target reflectivity. The source marks this parameter as measured at 25°C in an indoor environment.). A range figure is only comparable together with the target and conditions it was measured on, so the condition is listed next to the value.

Which interface does the LRF50H use?

The published communication interface is UART.

What laser wavelength does the LRF50H use?

The published wavelength is 905 nm; laser safety entry: Class 1.

How much does the LRF50H cost?

The published single-unit price of the LRF50H is $100, falling to $50 per unit at the largest published quantity band. Prices include shipping and are ordered directly from erdilrf.com.
