1535 nm Eye-Safe Laser Rangefinder Modules for UAV Payloads

For a civil UAV payload, evaluate a 1535 nm laser rangefinder module against the actual target, required distance, installed mass, supply and serial interface. Compare the complete modules below, then confirm the delivered configuration and laser-safety statement. A wavelength label or catalog maximum does not establish performance on your aircraft.

Compare complete ranging modules

LRF0306C, LRF0405C and LRF0815C are complete ranging-module records. Their source laser and receiver component specifications are separate; an emitter’s pulse energy is not a module’s distance performance.

1535 nm module candidates for payload evaluation
Model / wavelength Published range and conditions Module mass Serial interface Supply Published power
LRF0306C
1535 nm
≥ 4000m @60% Reflectivity, Building Target ≥3000m @30% Reflectivity, 2.3×2.3m Target ≥1500m @30% Reflectivity, 0.5×1.7m Target ≥800m @30% Reflectivity, 0.2×0.3m Target; visibility >8 km for these source test cases ≤14 ±1 g (notation as printed in the module document) UART(TTL 3.3V) DC 3~5V 5 V: ≤0.9 W at 1 Hz; <1.1 W at 3 Hz; peak ≤3W
LRF0405C
1535 nm
4,000 m or more at 30% reflectance and visibility of at least 6 km; 2.3 m × 2.3 m target ≤32 ±1 g (notation as printed in the current module table) UART, 3.3 V TTL level Source entries differ: DC 3 to 5 V / 4.5 to 16 V. Confirm in writing before wiring. 2.5 W or less at 10 Hz; peak 7 W or less; the current source references 12 V
LRF0815C
1535 nm
≥8,000 m to a 2.3 m x 2.3 m target, 30% reflectance, visibility ≥10 km ≤175 g RS-422; TTL optional 12 V DC Average ≤2 W; peak ≤3 W at 10 Hz

Read each range with its target conditions. Module mass excludes the host assembly. Average power does not define peak rail demand. Open the exact model for its controlled documents and interactive 3D view.

Specify the measurement before the aircraft interface

  1. Describe the nearest and farthest target, target size, reflectivity, visibility and acceptable error.
  2. Budget the complete installed mass, cable, optical window, mounting envelope and heat.
  3. Check supply and peak demand separately from serial logic voltage. LRF0405C has differing source supply entries; resolve them before wiring.
  4. Measure completed valid outputs, latency and invalid-reading behavior on your actual target. A slant distance is not automatically height above ground.

Review eye safety at module and system level

The three module documents state Class I. Treat that as a manufacturer statement for the documented configuration. Obtain the applicable document and assess the complete host assembly before publishing a safety claim. Compare 905 nm and 1535 nm choices when your range or power budget is still open.

Engineering and purchasing questions

Which 1535 nm module should I evaluate for a drone?

Start with LRF0306C, LRF0405C and LRF0815C. Compare their own target conditions, mass, operating and peak power, supply and serial interface. None is established as compatible with your aircraft by its catalog entry.

Does 1535 nm automatically mean eye-safe?

No. The LRF0306C, LRF0405C and LRF0815C module documents state Class I. These are manufacturer statements, not third-party test reports. Classification applies to the complete configuration; wavelength alone does not establish the accessible-emission class of your finished product.

Where can I get a datasheet or serial driver?

Open technical downloads for the exact model, driver resources and the ErdiTech driver repository for supported protocol families. Confirm the module, firmware, connector and logic voltage before using a driver. Documentation availability does not establish flight-controller compatibility.

What are the sample quantity and lead time?

Send your model, quantity, configuration and evaluation requirements. Sample terms, order quantity, pricing and lead time are confirmed in writing. An inquiry does not reserve stock or establish a delivery date.

Request a sample or an engineering review
