SPD1200N0 · 905 nm Laser Rangefinder Module

SPD1200N0 Arduino library and example sketch

The Arduino library in erdi-lrf-drivers decodes the SPD1200N0 frame (8 B / 2 B at 115200 baud) and returns the distance in m. Use a hardware serial port; SoftwareSerial is not reliable at this rate.

Wiring

SPD1200N0 TX → Arduino RX1, RX → TX1, GND → GND, supply 3.3–5 V. Interface level: UART-TTL (customizable); check the level before connecting a 5 V board.

Example sketch

#include <ErdiLRF.h>
ERDI_SPD1200N0 lrf(Serial1);   // SPD1200N0

void setup() {
  Serial.begin(115200);
  Serial1.begin(115200);
  lrf.begin();
}

void loop() {
  if (lrf.readSingle()) {
    Serial.println(lrf.distanceMeters());
  }
  delay(100);
}

FAQ

What is the maximum range of the SPD1200N0?

The published range is Catalog range 0.2–1,200 m. A 1,500 m night-time figure appears in the source under special conditions and is not a guaranteed range. (SPD1200N0 controlled source technical table; strong sunlight or low visibility may reduce range). A range figure is only comparable together with the target and conditions it was measured on, so the condition is listed next to the value.

Which interface does the SPD1200N0 use?

The published communication interface is UART-TTL (customizable) @ 115200 bps (default).

What laser wavelength does the SPD1200N0 use?

The published wavelength is 905 nm ±5 nm; laser safety entry: IEC Class I.

How much does the SPD1200N0 cost?

The published single-unit price of the SPD1200N0 is $90, falling to $35 per unit at the largest published quantity band. Prices include shipping and are ordered directly from erdilrf.com.
