LRF100H · 905 nm LiDAR Distance Sensor

LRF100H on Pixhawk / ArduPilot: rangefinder setup

The LRF100H streams 4 B / 2 B frames at 460800 baud in cm over 0.05-100.0 m. ArduPilot support is in the public driver work linked below; the flight-controller side is a serial port and a handful of RNGFND parameters.

Wiring to a Pixhawk TELEM port

Module TX → TELEM RX, module RX → TELEM TX, GND → GND. Power: 9–36 V DC. Interface: UART, IIC.

ArduPilot parameters

SERIAL2_PROTOCOL 9 # Rangefinder
SERIAL2_BAUD 460
RNGFND1_TYPE 50
RNGFND1_MIN
RNGFND1_MAX
RNGFND1_ORIENT 25 # down

FAQ

What is the maximum range of the LRF100H?

The published range is 0.05–100 m (90% reflectivity); 0.05–30 m (10% reflectivity) (The two source values remain bound to their stated target reflectivity.). A range figure is only comparable together with the target and conditions it was measured on, so the condition is listed next to the value.

Which interface does the LRF100H use?

The published communication interface is UART, IIC.

What laser wavelength does the LRF100H use?

The published wavelength is 905 nm; laser safety entry: Class 1.

How much does the LRF100H cost?

The published single-unit price of the LRF100H is $200, falling to $80 per unit at the largest published quantity band. Prices include shipping and are ordered directly from erdilrf.com.

Does ArduPilot support the LRF100H natively?

A serial driver for the ERDI frame format was submitted to ArduPilot (pull request 34983). Until it ships in a release, the repository above provides a Lua script that parses the same frames and feeds the rangefinder backend.
